Bloomberg and MSCI launch ESG index suite


Bloomberg and MSCI Inc. have launched the Bloomberg Barclays MSCI Emerging Market Asia Credit ESG index suite for investors, which tracks the performance of the emerging market US dollar-denominated credit debt in the Asia ex-Japan region, while incorporating measures for environmental, social and governance risk and exposures.

Asian Sustainable Funds Win Record Inflows as Investors Seek ESG


Investors pumped record amounts of cash into Asian funds with environmental, social and governance mandates in the most recent quarter as appetite for sustainable investing grows during the coronavirus pandemic, and the total assets across active and passive sustainable funds in Asia has reached more than $30 billion.


Active and passive funds based in the Asia Pacific region excluding China (due to the inavailability of data) brought in a record $8.8 billion in the three months ended September, according to Morningstar Inc. data released this week. Flows nearly quadrupled from the previous period in Australia and New Zealand, while a fund launch in Japan attracted billions.

China Bond Pricing Centre to Launch ESG Valuation Series on a Trial Basis


In order to meet the demand of market participants for ESG evaluation of bond issuers’ environmental performance, social responsibility and corporate governance (hereinafter referred to as “ESG”), to fill the gap of ESG evaluation in the bond market, to guide the sustainable development of enterprises and to promote the application and development of the concept of responsible investment in the bond market, China Bond Pricing Center (hereinafter referred to as “CBPC”) will release the ESG evaluation series products on a trial basis, including ESG evaluation, ESG database, ESG reports, ESG consulting services and other diversified products and comprehensive solutions from October 30, 2020.

The China Bond ESG Database, independently built by the CBPC, covers the ESG information of all domestic public credit bond issuers, covering more than 300 ESG data elements, involving 15 types of announcement data sources and 10 types of public announcement data sources, with a history dating back to 2017, and is continuously updated according to the latest developments in the bond market.
